Dell - doing their bit in the war against terror.
Posted by FrankPWhile I was babysitting TomR’s blog for him, I posted about my experience calling Dell about a machine on their outlet store… I did eventually purchase from the outlet store and I’ll post about the beautiful machine I got soon, but in the meantime let me share this gem with you…
As one of the final steps to buying through the Irish Dell Outlet store I was asked the following questions…
Q1. Are you the end user of the product(s) you are ordering? Y/N
Q2. What is the intended use of these product(s)?
Home
Commercial
Government / Civilian
Government / MilitaryQ3. Will these product(s) be exported to other countries? Y/N
Q4. Will the product(s) be used in connection with weapons of mass destruction, i.e. nuclear applications, missile technology, or chemical or biological weapons purposes? Y/N
The last question, question number four, is one of those questions I was sorely tempted to answer ‘YES’ to. What would have happened? Refusal to sell me the machine? Instant swat team drilling circular holes in my ceiling? Secret tracking software embedded in the machine before shipping? Quiet addition of my name to the most wanted list?
Honest terrorists everywhere are now reduced to using an etchasketch and an abacus to plot their dastardly deeds.

Thanks for a great job on the blogsitting Frank!
You should have answered Yes to 4 as a test - then if their were repercussions, you mis-read the question, you were talking about blogging - a weapon of mass distraction!!!
