CEO Blogs
Posted by FrankPAnother lovely buzz-term buzzing around the blogosphere *. Let’s really push the envelope on CEO blogs by thinking outside the box and leveraging our thought leaders core competencies to create a win-win situation. It’s a no brainer. *
The most interesting points I’ve read on CEO blogs recently come from Shel Israel and Seth Godin.
They both make similar points, Seth Godin says ‘Beware the CEO Blog’. Seth lists some of the qualities that make a good blog and points out that very few CEO’s would blog with those qualities - Candor, Urgency, Timeliness, Pithiness and Controversy!’. Save the fluff for the annual report’ he says.
Shel Israel says something similar, that not every CEO should blog. He urges people not to push their CEOs into blogging and he also makes the point that CEO’s often feel their hands are tied by their responsibilities to the shareholders.
What he does advise is that CEOs who are not comfortable blogging should find someone within the organisation who will blog openly and honestly.
Good advice.
