Business blogging tips: Find inspiration. (1 of 10)
Posted by FrankPAh yes. Inspiration, all very well to say ‘find it’ but where exactly does one find inspiration? It’s the question all writers dread ‘where do you get your inspiration?’.
A couple of tips - it’s a good idea to have an RSS reader and subscribe to other sites and blogs in your niche as well as using sites like Technorati to set up an RSS feed for key terms. Keep abreast of whats going on, what the hot topics are and who holds what opinion.
This will give you plenty of material to consider and react to, but take care, using this approach can result in ‘me-too-itus’, a condition which places you behind the curve, not leading it.
If you want to keep your blogging fresh, keep an eye on RSS, but don’t neglect the real world. Often the best blogging topics will present themselves through conversations you have with people, particularly clients.
Blogging that comes out of conversations with clients or prospective clients will, very likely, be of interest to other clients and prospective clients.
If you get into the habit of keeping some small part of your brain actively scanning for potential material you will find inspiration everywhere - TV programs and ads, books, magazines, billboards, thin air!
Writers often carry notebooks with them to jot down ideas that occur to them during the day. It’s a good idea - don’t believe the little voice in your head saying ‘I won’t forget that’. Jot it down!
