Aonach

Aonach - So what does it mean? Where did we get this name from? Aonach is the Irish word for a Fair - historically it was a Market for produce in rural Ireland. As Aonach Consulting is focused on the opportunity of doing business in the online marketplace we felt it was apt.

There were other considerations however:

Aonach starts with an A - always useful in directory listings (How important is that you ask yourself? Well as I called a previous business Zenith I think I’m qualified to comment!).

Aonach is a word that most people are unfamilar with. People we meet generally ask us about three times what the company is called, can we spell it for them, how do you pronounce it etc etc - you might think that was a drawback but to be honest if we were called something easier and generic like ABC Consulting I think it would just be another name that flew in one ear and out the other! Aonach has a certain stickiness to it which helps people to remember us.

Finally Aonach is an Irish or Gaelic word. This was an important aspect of the word for us, as it differentiates us in an ever homogenised global society. We are Irish and we’ve chosen to live and operate from Ireland. Aonach Consulting is a specialist technology consultancy, we have a highly experienced team of partners - all with extensive management experience, who have chosen to work from the South West of Ireland. We’ve harnessed the power of the internet to enable us to do business in one of the most beautiful parts of the world far away from the traffic chaos of metropolitan life.
